Additional Notes

Grace of Years, Sepia
Grace of Years, Sepia

This chalk drawing hung at the 1935 9th Annual Exhibition by the Southern Vermont Artist Association. According to our records it sold at the exhibit.

We can't help thinking that this drawing may be of the the Halifax House in Halifax, VT. It was a significant subject of RSW's study in the midst of the depression era mid-1930s. He even named another 1935 Halifax painting originally, Grace of Ages only to change it later to Grace of Years. For all we know, this drawing could be Grace of Years' twin.

As RSW notes in his diary comments for Grace of Years, that it was during a time before it was purchased and restored.
