RSW's Diary Comments

• There is no entry for this painting in the painting diary.

Editor's Note:

To the right is the painting, My Christmas Shelf. It is the south window and "L" shelf of Woodward's second studio, the Hiram Woodward Place, on Ashfield Stage Road. These paintings are not true, what we call, "Window Picture Paintings" (WPP) because there is no scene outside window. The whole focus of the subject is the staged shelf.

This was a popular subject in 1928 and so we are certain, the artwork of this page is related. See below

Additional Notes

We do not know how many version Woodward made of this subject. What we can tell you is that the ones we know about all exhibited places that meant something to him- i.e. Myles Standish Gallery (The South Window), the Springfield Art League (My Christmas Window, see above) and this artwork when it hung at the home of Ann Koch, Greenfield, MA, in 1928.

For more on Ms. Koch, see Up the Pasture Road.
