"Painted in 1938. From my little east studio window. Sold at Manchester, Vt., Exhibition to Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Fitzgibbon, 1273 North Avenue, Apartment 2-E, New Rochelle, N. Y."
The studio items appearing in the painting are: A 1816 edition of Edwin Dwight's book, "Memoirs of
Henry Obookiah" (Opukaha'ia); a tall old lavender-colored bottle; a wine or sherry bottle; a hexagonal
incense dish; a dark blue bottle; a crystal bird, a pink or green-colored shot glass, two apples, and a pewter
water pitcher w/ clippings.
Most every item in this painting
are common to Woodward's Window Picture paintings except for the incense tray, and pewter water pitcher. The
wine/sherry bottle appears in one other painting, painted the same year,
Geraniums and Glass. We wonder if there is a significance.
