There is no diary comment or photograph of this painting. Itis mentioned in an RSW letter to the Pettis family. We have no other information. Its name, however, along with other similarly named paintings suggest the scene is likely that of the same barnyard / farm as The Farmyard; North Hadley to the right.
This chalk drawing may be one of as many as 5, possibly 6 other paintings throughout the 1930s decade.
The ones we know of are as follows:
1931, Spring in (at) North Hadley, 30" x 36", oil on canvas, Myles Standish Gallery.
1931, April in North Hadley, 30" x 36", oil on canvas, Smith College Tryon Gallery.
1933, North Hadley Farmyard, 22" x 29", chalk on board, Williston Academy.
1938, Barnyard; North Hadley, 22" x 29", chalk on board, Macbeth Galleries, New York City.
