RSW's Diary Comments

Current photograph of bottle and apple
shown in painting.

"Painted in 1945 - 6. The little east studio window back of my easel which I have painted so many times showing the winter orchard and icicles outside. Red geranium at the right, books, lavender bottle and glass apple to the left. Painted expressly for Mr. and Mrs. Pettis for the new home they are to build and at once bought by them. They loaned this canvas in the summer of 1947 to White and Wyckoff Mfg. Co who made a Christmas card in color out of it for their 1947 series. Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Pettis of 1120, River Road, Agawam, Mass., of course own this canvas."
