R S WOODWARD            -2-

(Solubility of the paint was only very occasionally found in the darkest red-purples.)

An area, near center top, where knock from the reverse had initiated a large-scale crackle with incipient flaking, was treated with a wax-resin adhesive impregnation followed by the attachment of a linen patch with the wax adhesive.

Stills of beeswax were inserted in the areas of vandalized punctures (R corners; 2 above, 1 below), colored with pigment in vinylite. The final films are vinylite in alcohol, brushed and sprayed.
