Additional Notes

Woodward made this ink wash art as an apology to his dear and close friend Dr. Lawrence Lunt after Lunt offered RSW a quote from Roman ]Emperor Marcus Aurelius, "Nothing happens to anybody which he is not fitted by nature to bear." Lunt was attempting to encourage his friend during a state of troubled and depressing emotions. Woodward, instead, was offended and wrote Lunt a "scathing letter" back. It would interupt their relationship for a brief time before RSW would amends. Note his use of another Aurelius quote signing it, "In trembling repentance - Rob"

Lunt in his recollection claims this drawing is taken from a photograph of Mount Susan, Haystack Gulch but we have been unable to find any more information than that... If you know of this location's whereabouts, please let us know. Contact Us
