Twenty unfinished chalks and oils, mostly chalks, were forgotten and discovered in a crate being stored in an attic. A number of the pieces were nothing more than a sketch and can be found in the Sketch Book Gallery.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This drawing most closely resembles House in Halifax, however, RSW is more to the side and not as close.


Woodward so loved the Halifax house that when another artist, Stanley Woodward, went to paint it, he was outraged, considering it HIS house. Woodward also struck up a friendship with the woman who bought it and planned to restore it... Read more in our Scapbook story regarding the Halifax House



Additional Notes

This incomplete artwork was found in a forgotten shipping crate stored in an attic, as seen below, along with twenty other pieces. The crate is in excellent condition and is a wonderful example of how RSW shipped his paintings about the country to exhibit in various shows.
