Noteworthy:

This is a rare vantage point of Woodward's neighboring home's property. We know it is from the balcony because of the angle and the apple tree sitting center in the scene. Paintings of the same tree sits to the right in the paintings made from the studio's artist north window.

This unsigned and unnamed painting is of the neighboring property and the "gully" separating them. Woodward painted it from the Northeast corner of his studio balcony where he is seen posing in the picture to the right. The vantage point from where he sits so high up is because the converted old blacksmith shop he converted into a studio had to be raised at least six feet for him to easily access it from the house.

The scene that appears in this painting is hardly recognizable to the way it appears today. As you can see in the picture to the left taken by Brian in 2021, the gully is grown out and no longer used as a pasture. The apple trees are gone. The barns that once stood on the neighbors land is no longer there and Dr. Mark added an astronomy building to the yard for his son Larch. However, note the old tree on the neighbor's property that touches the sky, that is still there, and while it looks fairly good in the picture. It is massive and sprouting fewer leaves but we believe it is the tree to the left gnarled dying tree at the far edge of the pasture hill.

you can see the corner of the balcony's railing,
the apple tree also seen in the above painting,
as well as a couple of Holsteins grazing on grass.
