RSW's signature with just the "S"

"Signed as, 'Robert S. Woodward,' (not Strong) and although this is not his usual signature he was actually seen when he signed it so we know it is authentic."

This magnificent painting of the beech tree is summer was given to Mark for the wall in his apartment in Boston to remind him during medical school years of the beloved Heath Pasture. It was originally unsigned and unnamed. RSW on a visit to Boston, and after being carried up four flights of stairs to the apartment, signed it but the signature had only a red "S" instead of "Strong" which is unique among all his other paintings.
