This painting shares a similar name with another painting, October's Flame and the two are often confused. From what we can gather in RSW's painting diary comments re: October's Flame the two pieces could not be more different. It is unclear why this painting would not have any diary comments that we know of, other than both pieces were painted around the same time, named similarly and October's Flame was purchased by Woodward friend Clifford R. Richmond, making that painting easier to recall.

Sold at auction in Northampton, Massachusetts for $3,250 on 2/19/96 to an unknown buyer.
