RSW's Diary Comments

"A view of Connie Jarvis farm in West Chesterfield where I used to visit, prior to 1930. Original painting made at the place turned dark with varnish so I copied it in the Buckland studio. Bought by Mrs. Landon K. Thorne, 740 Park Ave. N.Y. City, on a trip to the studio with Marjorie and Laurence Lunt, but to be given by her as a wedding present, I believe, so not her possession."

Additional Notes

Boston Globe, 1926 by A. J. Philpott

"This man sees the sky and the clouds in just relation to the landscape. That is what makes August Cloud so fine a bit of painting---luminous and vital."
