Close up of the artwork's name from the drawing.

It is difficult to determine, because of the angle and direction, but this drawing is either of Mount Haystack near Wilmington, VT or Camel's Hump near Bolton, VT. A look at a topographic map online points to it being Camel's Hump from the north looking south. Like a finger print, one just needs to match the ridges with the valleys.


This chalk drawing was purchased by Woodward's friend, Clifford Richmond, an industrialist living in Easthampton, Massachusetts. Richmond's business, the Elastic Web Company produced a "radio-gram" series that featured Woodward's story in 1934. For more on this click the link below...
